If you ask anyone who was either a student of mechanical engineering or presently enrolled in this course would say, ‘mechanical is the evergreen branch of engineering’. This cliché has been passed around for decades but is there any evidence backing this statement? What they simply mean is that no matter how serious inflation or unemployment hit the country, but will be jobs for mechanical engineering students. I have been pondering over this issue for a long a time. Here I will try to discuss the requirements of best universitiesfor mechanical engineers .I will be taking reference from the latest development and my personal experience.

As shown in the chart above, manufacturing contributes almost 22% of GDP in India. The manufacturing sector is expected to expand in the coming years as the new initiative taken by the new government such as allowing 50% FDI in defence. The immediate benefits can be seen for instance US MNC Lockheed Martin is shifting its entire F16 fighter jet assembly unit to India. This is one example but similarly many other giant groups are looking towards India for investment.  Therefore this is expected to create a vast demand or mechanical engineers. Therefore in the coming years this country need to produced the finest mechanical engineer to caters this need
Mechanical engineering encapsulates vast array of individual field of work, for example automobile engineering, thermal engineering, fluid machinery, machine design, industrial engineering and manufacturing are the some areas.  And sometime the specific job requires particular set of skills so that the task can be completed without any time delay. Therefore the engineering colleges have to adopt the new curriculum which serves the present needs.

Recently few universities in India have started collaborating with Industries to equip their students with the skills required by the industries. This is the beginning of a new era as so far we have been reluctant towards any changes to the old pattern of study. In my opinion this is the need of the hour and will provide the future engineers with hand on experience with latest technology as well as industry’s work culture. This is very crucial because normally when people join industries as a fresher, they are shocked and overwhelmed by the change in their environment.

Moreover there is an urgent need to revitalise our education system. We should focus more on the up gradation of our curriculum for accommodating the latest technology and invention in the respective field. For instance presently the introduction of 3D printing is not less than a revolution. It is being used in almost every field; even doctors are using it to create artificial body organs. The maker space community all around the globe is jubilant over this discovery. Therefore i believe we have to be more inclusive and flexible towards our courses. Many universities have taken this initiative and they are incorporating new courses to build the engineers of the future.
In addition to this, developing the entrepreneurial skills in future engineers is the need of the hour. As per our present structure, we put more emphasis of preparing students to get a decent job but the country desperately need job creator than job seeker. The main objective behind the ‘Make in India’ campaign is to motivate people towards start-ups. Therefore engineer need to be provided the basis of business models so that starting a business should not appear as a daunting task. For example, in China the government is promoting the start-up therefore all Chinese engineers and inventors are starting up their companies with an unprecedented rate, this has given a massive boost to China’s economy.

In conclusion I believe than many universities have realized the inherent problem and are making the necessary changes. Therefore the future engineers from these universities would not only be ideal to solve any engineering problem by the application of their knowledge but in addition they will have the ability to transform the economy.

I think that any comparison between Graphic Era University and DIT is unfair.

I have visited both virtually and personally. Graphic Era is sets different standards of excellence in education as firstly, it is a Deemed University that too with A grade by NAAC, the most reputed and genuine government rating agency in the country.

I think DIT holds no chance of any comparison with Graphic Era University in Dehradun. The campus placements of the University are also quite outstanding. Moreover, the credentials of the faculty at Graphic Era that I saw on the website is quite impressive.

My take between the two: no second thought: it is Graphic Era All the way….

Best engineering college always offers its student opportunities for placement. It may not be the only criteria for selection but certainly is one of the most important factors to consider. Companies and organizations opting for campus placement of students from the institute consider various factors like infrastructure, faculty, past performance of students and various others. When a student or teacher chooses the best engineering college in Dehradun, these aspects would be automatically addressed due to the reputation of the college and placements opportunities would be easier to come by.

In choosing the college it is also necessary looking at the facilities for extra-curricular activities offered by it. The reason is that students confined to studies only without recreation and relaxation may become dull in the end of it. Best engineering colleges always have other avenues to develop the overall personality of the students.

B.Tech, abbreviated as Bachelor of Technology, is a professional engineering under-graduate degree, awarded after completion of four years of study and research. Prestigious Indian institutes such as the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and the National Institute of Technology (NIT) offer this course. Some private colleges that are affiliated to Indian Universities also offer engineering degrees under the name of B.E (Bachelor of Engineering). Although the names are different, but curriculum is the same, which has been laid down by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the University Grants Commission, India (UGC).

It is often misunderstood that B.Tech and B.E degrees are different from each other in the scope and value that they offer. Both the degrees are same in terms of scope and value. The Universities that offer science and humanities along with engineering courses have named the engineering course as B.E., while the Universities that offer only engineering courses have named their course as B.Tech. Technically both B.E and B.Tech are more or less same, except for these minor differences.
B.Tech offers huge opportunities to the students across the world. There are many areas that the student can specialize. Some of the areas always in constant demand are Computer Science, Electronics and Communication and Mechanical Engineering. With the increasing demand for software professionals in India, B.Tech in Computer Science remains to be one of the highest in demand. The scope exists not only within India, but also in many developed countries. Once a student successfully completes the course, he has the option either to study or to take up a job assignment, in India or abroad. If a student wishes to go for higher studies, the options are a plenty. One can go for Masters in Engineering or even study Masters in Business Administration. There are some Certificate courses also that students can pursue.

Many students prefer to pursue higher studies in foreign universities after completion of the B.Tech degree in India. The Universities in the United States and Europe offer specialized higher education, which provides the student a platform for building their professional career. These developed countries have integration with their industries, thus helping the student to get absorbed into the right job arena immediately on completion of their studies. Some students even get an opportunity to do their project work in these industries, while they are in the final year of their course. This gives them a wider chance to get absorbed into the same industry immediately on completion of the course.
With the rapid industrialisation in India, the scope of B.Tech will only increase. There is a good demand for quality engineers, especially from pioneer institutions, to serve in various positions in the industry. With the “Start-up India” initiative the scope for B.Tech in India will only increase. Technological advancements will always pose good opportunities for bright students. Therefore, B. Tech continues to remain as one of the most sought-after courses in India.

In addition to the national level entrance examinations, there is also state level entrance tests conducted for procuring admission into the colleges which are affiliated to sate universities.

Every state has its own syllabus for these examinations.
A recent trend in engineering education across the country is the emergence of deemed universities, which offer engineering courses. These deemed universities are autonomous in nature and are providing specialized courses in engineering, including many integrated courses based on the recent developments in the industries.

Some of the top engineering universities in India are SRM University, Jawaharlal Nehru University and Dehradun Engineering University. These universities conduct their own entrance examinations for selecting candidates into their institution.

From an academic perspective, engineering is broadly classified into Core Engineering and Applied Engineering courses. Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering e.tc are Core Engineering Courses, while Mechatronics, E.E.E., I.T. and the like are Applied Engineering courses as they are a hybrid of two or more core subjects. There is an equally good demand for these applied courses today as the syllabus is designed based on modern day industrial requirements.
